"About 1 year ago I had a routine checkup at King House Dental. Dr. T was doing a checkup, and he noticed that my tonsils were not only inflamed, they were discolored, and enlarged. He took a picture and suggested that my doctor check it out. I was caught off guard at first, because no one had ever mentioned that in my life, not even my doctor. He suggested that I should try and get them removed, that they could be causing me problems. With his recommendation, I spoke to my doctor, and said that I would like to have my tonsils removed. Well, it was a good thing Dr. T noticed it, because I was diagnosed with having sleep apnea. Sleep apnea was causing me to stop breathing in the middle of the night, because specifically, my tonsils were blocking my airway. This was very dangerous for me, especially since I drove over 60 miles one way to work every day. I would hate to think what would have happened if my dentist wasn't looking out for my overall wellbeing. NOw I have the best sleep, and I feel energized throughout the day. As an added bonus, my girlfriend loves the fact that I don't snore.
Thank you, Dr. T

"Dr.T,
I just wanted to give you a quick thanks. The right side of my mouth is doing great, my gums don't bleed on that side and they are actually lying flat for the first time since I can remember. The deep tissue cleaning really helped. I also bought the Oxyfresh kit when I was there and I love it. I can't wait to get the rest of my mouth done on [date omitted to respect patient confidenciality]. I will get the electronic toothbrush thing [Rotadent] then also. Thanks again for your recommendations and excellent work on my teeth. I am a happy customer and glad that I found you. Have a blessed day."

"I am writing this patient testimonial to help others who maybe experiencing TMJ related pain and headaches and seeking assistance at The King House Dental Group in Redlands, CA. If you are a new patient and are skeptical if they can help you please read on...
Here is a bit of a personal back round to you. I consider myself a wreck from the neck up. I had reconstructive jaw surgery when I was in my teens to realign my jaw and help further along my orthodontics. They told me then that I would always have problems with my jaw and might need more surgery when I am older. I put up with the jaw pain for years until I began suffering from daily migraines that started conflicting with daily life. I worked through the pain as much as I could but finally, I sought treatment 9 years ago from a neurologist who put me on preventive migraine medication, some of which were psychotropic drugs which altered my personality while others drugged me out totally. I was a walking zombie living day to day. I wouldn't drive when I took meds and stayed home trying to sleep away the headaches when I got them.
I got caught in the medical system and every time I would got to a follow up appointment I would ask them if possibly my TMJ would be causing my headaches and they assured me that it was all neuralgic. I went along with the program renewing my Rx's each month, trying the latest and greatest medication, but still my headaches would come and go getting worse even while taking all the medication. I was given pain killers and preventative meds and of course had to be subjected to pricey tests such as MRI's and CAT scans.
I found The King House Dental web site online one day and wondered if they could help me still with the nagging thought that TMJ was causing my headaches. The site had a lot of information that related to me. I called and made an appointment and met with Dr. T. After meeting with him and he getting into my history, he was sure that TMJ was the root of my problems and suggested a course of treatment. He was the first doctor in years, that actually listened and was willing to help try and fix the problem and not just try and mask it with medication. He didn't guarantee me a complete recovery but said he could possibly make things better. In my mind, I told myself that if I could just get off the meds, it would be worth it. He began doing all kinds of non dental testing such as a balance testing, measurements with funny contraptions placed on my head and asking me questions about how I sleep etc. I wasn't sure what to think at this point. I was more skeptical. After all, this isn't what dentists do , but I was desperate for relief.
He suggested I see a chiropractor several times a week that practices in Burbank. Dr. Gerardo. I knew as a working professional this was almost near to impossible but he assured me I would recover quicker if I did, I hedged on this for awhile and then Dr. G began to come to the office of Dr. T once a month and I began seeing him. He was right again. Dr. G's appointments were nothing like I had ever experienced before but I trusted him and he did make me feel better.
At my initial visit, we talked about paying for my treatment. This was another biggie for me since I did have good insurance but it would only pay for 50%. We were on a fixed income with both my husband and I working full time to make ends meet and a large amount was requested up front. We came up with the funds but I still was skeptical that this all was going to work.
We agreed on a treatment course and I was visiting several times a week for impressions, orthotic fittings, chiropractic visits and later, laser therapy.
My headaches began to diminish from daily to one a week then to one a month and I weaned myself off the neuro medication. I was fitted and wore a jaw splint both night and day for several months.
It was amazing to feel how life could be pain free and I got addicted to making myself better and channeled my energy into finding better ways to help me sleep and feel better including my ergonomics at work and how I slept at night. I became more active in my recovery and established a patient- Dr. relationship that made me feel like I was contributing to my own recovery. Dr's T & G are really good about listening to their patients and treating them individually and not everyone the same.
I am happy to report I'm off all medication except for an occasional pain reliever. I am weaned off my daytime orthotic and only wear one at night. My jaw is stable. We found through further testing that I sleep abnormally and I grind and clench my teeth and jaw at night and I don't get enough oxygen when I sleep all causing me to wake up with headaches.
After TMJ treatment at The King House Dental Group, I feel better now than I have in 20 years. I did have an unexpected period of neck and shoulder pain while my jaw was in transition but the low level laser therapy and chiropractor visits helped me through.
If your contemplating TMJ treatment at The King House Dental Group, please know that it works and can make a difference. I was an extreme case and they helped me. Dr. T and Dr. G's methods and questions may seem out of the ordinary for the dental world at times, but know they work. If you are skeptical like I was, take the chance on making your quality of living better. It is worth the effort, time and money living life without TMJ headaches and jaw pain is amazing!".
R.W Writes:
"I have been suffering from chronic facial pain and severe headaches for the past ten years. The pain that I went through was at times unbearable, and I also had a long list of "idiopathic", nagging ailments (waking frequently at night to urinate, back pain, foot pain, and snoring). My doctors were unable to diagnose me and at times seemed to be bothered by my complaints. My orthodontists wanted to do jaw surgery but were unable to guarantee it would relieve my suffering. I received many prescriptions for pain medications over the past ten years but the medications were not the solution I was looking for. The pain was always there and had become a part of my daily life. And after many visits to different M.D.'s and orthodontists I resigned myself to t he fact that I would have to live with this condition for the rest of my life. I was determined to find help...enter Dr. Tatevossian. Let me tell you, I learned more about TMJ in that one- hour consultation than I had previously learned from any of the other doctors I had seen before! Everything he said made sense and fit into what I was experiencing. I signed up immediately for his TMJ treatment program. After the consult, I left with a temporary orthotic and that night I slept the whole night through without getting up to go to the bathroom! My wife noticed that I didn't snore either. I no longer have back or foot pain. This program has dramatically improved the quality of my life. My pain, which was daily and often severe, has now gone away and there is no need for medications. I am living proof that there is hope for those of us that suffer this debilitating condition and that Dr. T's program works! Thanks Dr.T!!"
V.V. Writes:
"My initial complaint presented as a tight, sore lower back and an annoying pain in my left leg during exercise. Pain is a message from your body that something is wrong, and I was determined to find the root of this problem. It has been a long, interesting journey.
At the time of my referral to Dr. Tatevossian, I had consulted with my primary care physician, a physical therapist, two podiatrists, and two orthopedic surgeons. The doctors ordered multiple MRI's, and so many x-rays that I was certain that I'd glowed in the dark. The internist initially diagnosed me with bursitis and prescribed anti inflammatory medication. The first orthopedist wanted to inject my spine and ultimately do big back surgery. I was wary and did not want any of it. Despite a heroic and determined effort, the physical therapist felt frustrated that he had not been able to permanently correct the problem either.
Ultimately, I found my way to a second orthopedist, a very kind, brilliant, caring man with a more progressive approach who determined that TMJ was a large part of my problems. he determined that I am an "atypical" or "stealth" TMJ patient. Over the years, there were only two brief incidents of the jaw locking. My front top and bottom teeth always hit together when chewing. Chewing was sometimes accompanied by a very loud annoying pop, but intuitively implementing some of the self-help techniques that are recommended seemed to help to some degree. For example avoiding especially chewy or hard foods, not chewing gum, and not opening my mouth very wide. While I'd had no particular headache complaints, there was the presenting pain in my leg during exercise and my achy lower back. Routinely, I failed the kinesiology testing with my right arm. The orthopedist gave his assurances that the TMJ issue needed to be addressed before any long-term improvement would be seen, and referred me to Dr. Tatevossian.
It seemed so important that TMJ could be at the root of this! Skepticism and doubt accompanied me to the first consultations. Traditional medicine was offering me poor options and this course of treatment seemed so much less invasive, painful, and stressful. One-third of the major nerves in your body pass through the jaw area and one quarter go to your face. There is only about 1/8 th of an inch of bone that separates your jaw joint and these nerves. If the jaw does not work properly, it can irritate those nerves and the effects can be seen system wide. I decided to proceed and give this treatment a try.
Dr. Tatevossian has treated the TMJ by re-aligning the bite to open up the jaw and stop the front teeth hitting each other. He does testing periodically to demonstrate the progress and improvement from start to finish. Dr. Tatevossian also strongly encouraged the addition of chiropractic services to the treatment plan which also has been most helpful.
It has been my pleasure and privilege to work with Dr. Tatevossian, his wonderful staff, and the other dedicated, knowledgeable doctors in this team of professionals. I feel so lucky to have found them. I have received exceptional care and made significant progress. My front teeth do not hit when I chew any more. The jaw has a marked improvement n range of motion. At the beginning of treatment I was having difficulty walking a length of the mall, and was worried about not being ambulatory. in later years. At the end of treatment, I am able to ride a bicycle ten miles and routinely pass the kinesiology testing. And I have a beautiful smile. Thank you for all that you've done."
